48 Days To Creative Income Audio Book

48 Days To Creative Income, Day 2

I think I actually got fatter today!  And here I was trying to lose weight while making money.

Note to self: Buffalo sauce fries do not suppress the appetite.

Today’s assignment in the 48 Days to Creative Income was simple:

Day 2: Listen to 48 Days to Creative Income (cd)

First off I forgot to listen on the way to work.  Too busy listening to political analysis.

The I’d hoped to listen while doing some menial work at the day job.  But fate intervened, and I had to respond to a Vice President’s email where he called my work “moving backward” and complained about how  “upgrades were causing problems”.   Well, none of that was true and I spent 3 hours steaming and writing a response.   But I used it to my advantage and I used it as more incentive to Quit the Day Job.  We’ll see if I have a job tomorrow morning.

I finally got to listen on the drive home.

First off the CD itself is more than adequate and as is the sound quality.

Dan Miller, the author, speaks clearly and easily.  He uses a very friendly tone, although he stumbles on several phrases.  This almost make me think that this was recorded in “one shot”.  Another clue that supports that is that there is no “3 minute” segmentation of tracks.  The CD is all one long track #1.  Seems to me this should have been split up.

But in the first section listened to, Dan Miller does not impart any information on creating Creative Income.  Instead the first part is more of an introduction and a history of his life.  The story is mean to be inspirational I guess.  Letting us know why he is “qualified” to talk about creating income streams.  He imparts his life history, growing up in rural Ohio.  His various jobs as teen.  His college career and how he paid for it by working and a history of his “get rich schemes” that don’t quite pan out.  His story is laced with various quotations and references to a number of authors or speakers, who quite frankly I have never heard of.

All of this is meant to introduce him to us.

The second second is meant to show us how leaving a position or being fired, etc, does not mean the end of the road.  That other opportunities are waiting to be created.  Unfortunately this is all explained by way of a very long and very rambling parable about some “Cave Men” who fish for a living and how they have to find new ways to make a living when some other guy invents the net.  This story rambles for maybe 10 minutes, while not really imparting any information.

I’m approximately 20 minutes into listening, and have yet to glean any information that is of any use (much like the blog entry your are saying).

Tomorrow:  More listening.
