Ever hear the phrase - “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket”.  It is a mantra of Internet Marketing.  Basically, don’t stick with one method for making money, don’t use just one network, so on and so on.  Now, have you ever been told something over and over, and ignored it until it kicked you in the butt!

If you are using EPN, or you have been cruising the net the past few days, you might have found out that the EPN has given the axe to a huge number of their affiliates.  (EPN is the eBay Affiliate Network).  They stated that they are cutting the fat so to speak and getting rid of all the affiliates that they don’t think send the right kind of traffic.  And when I say a huge number of affiliates got their accounts canceled, I do mean a ton.  My guess is over 50% of the affiliates got their accounts canceled, but I would say closer to 75%.

If you head over the EPN forums, you will see a TON of people ticked off, and they may be justified in being upset.  They all want to know why they got canned.  But reading the forum is so funny.  One guy states he will lose his house if he does not continue to get his EPN checks.  One guy has created over 600 eBay related sites.  600!  That is one huge basket!

I thought I was in trouble because I have 4 sites dedicated to eBay, and I had no idea (at the time) what to do with them.  But think about what you would do if your mortgage payments relied on one money making method.  And think about not saving any money in case something like this happens.  When it comes to owning your own business and making money for yourself, that uncertainty factor comes into play, and if you don’t prepare well enough for it, you probably will get kicked in the butt by it.
