What Comes First - Product or Niche?

Let’s go head first into Affiliate Marketing!  The majority of people who make money from the Internet do it by Affiliate Marketing.  You can make a living by doing AM, if you know what you are doing.  I know, I know, quit blowing smoke up for butts.  Let’s start …  So where do we start?

A lot of people say choosing a niche is the first thing you should do.  The diet niche makes money, so does the loans niche.  But unless you are stick to just Adsense, just picking the niche won’t make you money.  Sure building a website based on loans and throwing up Adsense could be profitable (with the right traffic), but that is not sure Affiliate Marketing.  Affiliate Marketing is promoting products.  Where’s the product?  Plus the fact that affiliate marketing will make you more money than Adsense anyday.

Now after you pick a niche, you then pick products.  But before you pick products, you need to be approved for affiliate networks.  Then after you get approved for some networks, you look through the products, find which ones convert, then go from there.  Doesn’t this seem wrong?

My opinion is to pick the product first.  Sign up for as many affiliate networks as you can and sort through their products.  Then go from there.  Some products don’t pay enough to be profitable, some don’t convert enough to be profitable.  Knowing the product that you will be promoting allows you to build a better game plan for making money.
