What I Learned During My Site Redesign

I just finished my freebie site redesign, kind of.  It look me longer than expected, but I am finally done, again kind of.  I am very pleased with the results.  I also learned a lot along the way as well.  This was my first redesign in a very long time, and the first one that I don’t plan on changing in a few months.

  1. Things don’t always go as planned.  Obviously!  I thought I would be done in 10 days, but it took around 13, and I still am not done.  The design is done, except for maybe a few small changes here and there.  I still plan on making SEO changes, and I need to promote it like crazy.
  2. Planning was the key to getting it done as quick as I did.  Without sketching out the design and knowing what I wanted before I started, it probably would have taken twice as long to finish.  I did get lucky and only had one minor change to the original design.
  3. Web Design is fun.  I am getting hooked.  Not even just designing site.  I am getting into drawing pictures and making logos.  I have three for sites redesigns coming including my personal site, my business site, and my diet site.  I am also going to be coming up with new logos for my diet site and business site.

This is the main I have been so distant on this blog lately.  I have just been BUSY.  October has been my month to become more professional, and that starts with making my sites look professional.  I was going to redesign my diet site next, but I think I will start redesigning my business site.

Ok, I am off to do some more designing.

Heh I know what you mean, I started off doing little pieces here and there of webdesign ad found myself getting more and more involved, lol. I hit a bit of a brick wall a few days ago though as I started writing websites scripts and found a project I had taken on was a bit over my head, so have fallen into a slump! Good luck with the site!
